Joint Letter to Chancellor Angela Merkel Re: President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi’s Visit to Berlin

On the eve of a visit to Germany by Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi a number of leading international human rights organisation wrote an open letter to the German chancellor Ms Angela Merkel. It reads:

ANHRI Release New Report Entitled “Extended Pre-trial Detention.. Disguised Incarceration”

the Arabic Network for Human Rights Information (ANHRI) released a new report on the prolonged pre-trial detention in Egypt, and the extension in its use under the rule of President Abdel-Fattah Al-Sisi, constituting an unfair punishment not a precautionary measure that the investigations require.
